7:00 - 8:30 PM (CT)
Hosted on Zoom
Since winning NPR Music's Tiny Desk Contest in 2016, Gaelynn Lea has inspired audiences around the world through her music, storytelling, and disability advocacy. A violinist, singer-songwriter, and composer, she has collaborated with artists including Michael Stipe, Wilco, and The Decemberists, and composed the original score for the Broadway production of Macbeth.
In 2026, Gaelynn published her debut memoir, It Wasn't Meant to Be Perfect. Warm, witty, and deeply personal, the book explores music, disability, resilience, and the beautifully imperfect life of a touring artist. Praised as "a music memoir like no other," it has been celebrated for its honesty, humor, and heartfelt perspective.
The Alumni Book Club is free to attend. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own copy of the book.
